The Research Process

When conducting research, there are two very important questions to ask:
What is my research question?
and
How much do I know about my topic?
Your research question and current knowledge of that topic will determine which resource is best to use.
If you know 0-25% about your topic, choose a REFERENCE source.
If you know 25-50% about your topic, choose a BOOK.
If you know 50-75% about your topic, choose a DATABASE from the approved list on this page.
If you know 75-100% about your topic, choose a SEARCH ENGINE, like GOOGLE, on the Internet. Use the KEYWORDS from your DATABASE search in your GOOGLE search. Use what you have already learned about your topic to weed out false or useless information. But first, check out the approved websites listed on this page.
